May is Mary’s month in the Catholic church and at St. Anselm’s we shall be honouring her in various ways. This Sunday we hold our May Devotion and at 9:15am and 11am Mass we shall end with a Marian procession around the church grounds leading to benediction. Children will hold the ribbons attached to her bier and we shall sing Marian hymns of praise in her honour.
Next Sunday a large group from our parish is travelling to Norfolk for the pilgrimage to Walsingham. PLEASE NOTE that this means 8am and 9:15am Mass is cancelled next Sunday – 15th May – and there will only be an 11am Mass that morning. Thanks to Father Benedict Kiely who will be celebrating it for those remaining at home whilst I lead the devotions in Norfolk for the rest of us.
Tomorrow morning will also be busy at St. Anselm’s. After 9:30am Mass we will hold the next First Communion class in the Sacred Hall Chapel (as the hall is in use for a private birthday party) whilst volunteers will help smarten up the garden and grounds and clear out the rubbish from the long cupboard. A job that is long overdue.
