The preparations for tonight’s special fundraiser are well under way. The barrel of beer has arrived. The wine has been purchased and raffle prizes are ready. The band has rehearsed and the food is being prepared and cooked. Those serving food and running the bar are prepped and as soon as 6pm arrives, and we have access to the hall, set up begins. And then it will be time for fun and laughter as we say goodbye to the liturgical year ahead of Advent tomorrow.
Doors open at 7:30pm and food will be served at 8pm. The evening is being dedicated to St. Arnulf who is, beyond doubt, the patron saint of ale. Not only did he come up with the wonderul quote “From man’s sweat and God’s love, beer came into the world” but he also has a legend attributed to him in which beer miraculously appeared to the delight of his people. Let the jolliness begin….
