Yesterday’s fundraiser was a roaring success. The band, Sold Out, were magnificent. They played a long set with hits from across the decades and the standard was, all agreed, extremely high.
The food was also delicious. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to chef, Mary Leveseur. And, yes, I guess we should also thank the two kitchen hands pictured above. They also worked hard all evening to ensure others had a delightful time.
St. Anselm’s ale turned out to be a big hit. No surprise to see Peter Ditchett hanging out by the barrel. Chris (on the left) is to be thanked for watching over it and ensuring payment came in. We must also thank Trudy and Sue who ran the rest of the bar serving up wine and soft drinks.
The guests were well behaved and very generous. Yes even the rugby players and big Australian “Stevo”. At least he was well behaved for him. The score of the big game earlier in the day having subdued him.
A great night out then for everyone. And a special mention should go to Martin and Beryl (pictured below on the left) who traveled from Essex to be with us. Members of the Ordinariate in Hockley they wanted to support our initiative and it was very good to see them.
